Onion Varieties We Export from India

India is one of the largest producers and exporters of onions globally. The onion exporter in India caters to international markets by supplying a variety of high-quality onions grown across major states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, and Telangana. Known for their pungency and strong flavour, Indian onions are in great demand worldwide.

Agrifound Dark Red —  The Agrifound Dark Red variety of onion is known for its dark red, globular round bulbs. It has tight skin and is moderately pungent in taste. This variety matures within 90 to 100 days after transplanting and provides an average yield of about 300 quintals per hectare. It is one of the popular export varieties from India due to its strong flavour and attractive appearance.

Agrifound Light Red —  Agrifound Light Red onions have attractive light red bulbs that are globular in shape with thick reddish inner scales. This variety matures in around 110 to 120 days. Known for its slightly milder flavour and high yield potential, it offers an average yield of 300 to 350 quintals per hectare and is widely preferred for international markets.

NHRDF Red —  The NHRDF Red variety features dark red, globular bulbs and matures in 110 to 120 days after transplanting. It is suitable for cultivation in Northern, Central, and Western India, especially during the rabi season. With a yield potential of 250 to 300 quintals per hectare, this variety meets the high export demand due to its strong taste and shelf life.

Agrifound White —  Agrifound White onions are distinguished by their bright white, globular bulbs with tight silvery skin. This variety matures in 110 to 120 days and is recommended for cultivation during the late Kharif and rabi seasons in states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. The average yield is between 250 and 300 quintals per hectare, making it a premium export choice.

Agrifound Rose —  The Agrifound Rose variety is known for its deep scarlet red, flattish round bulbs. It is suitable for the Kharif season in Andhra Pradesh and all three seasons in Karnataka. The crop matures in 95 to 110 days and offers a yield of 250 to 300 quintals per hectare. Its distinct colour and flavour make it highly demanded in export markets.

Agrifound Red —  Agrifound Red onions are ideal for both Kharif and rabi seasons, especially in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. The bulblets are light red, and each cluster usually contains about 5 to 6 bulblets. Its consistent size and colour contribute to its popularity among exporters catering to international requirements.

Pusa Ratnar —  Pusa Ratnar is a red onion variety that produces globular bulbs, slightly exposed above the ground at maturity. It is less pungent than other varieties and has moderate storage quality. Suitable for the rabi season, this variety provides an average yield of 30 tonnes per hectare, making it a reliable choice for onion exporters in India.

Pusa Red —  Pusa Red onions have medium-sized bulbs with a bronze-red colour and a shape that ranges from flat to globular. This variety matures in approximately 140 to 145 days and is especially suitable for export due to its appearance and shelf stability. It performs well in the late Kharif and rabi seasons in Maharashtra.

Pusa White Round —  The Pusa White Round variety features white bulbs that are round or slightly flat in shape. This crop matures in about 130 to 135 days after transplanting. It has good storage capability and is popular in both domestic and international markets for its clean look and long shelf life.
