Jack fruit
Jackfruit, a tropical fruit belonging to the Moraceae family, is widely known for its large size, nutritional value, and distinct flavor. The outer skin is typically green or yellow, while the inside contains yellow edible bulbs rich in nutrients.
India is one of the leading producers of jackfruit, and the Indian Jackfruit exporter ships tonnes of premium-quality jackfruit annually to several countries around the world. With its increasing popularity in international cuisines and plant-based diets, jackfruit has become a high-demand export commodity.
Jackfruit Export from India
India is home to several varieties of jackfruit that are popular both domestically and internationally. The jackfruit exporter in India exports high-quality jackfruits such as Black Gold, Cochin, Red Barlett, and more, to meet growing global demand. These fruits are carefully selected to comply with international health and safety regulations, ensuring freshness, taste, and nutritional value.
Black Gold — An energetic and vigorous variety with a dense canopy. Fruits weigh around 6.7 kg, featuring a dark green exterior with sharp, fleshy spines. About 35% of the fruit is edible pulp.
Cochin — Known for its small and smooth fruits, this variety softens and opens on maturity due to squashy spines. It is ideal for easy consumption and has good market appeal.
Red Barlett — This exotic, medium-sized jackfruit is oval in shape. Trees are pruned annually to maintain a compact structure (3–3.5 m). The fruit is bright green to pale yellow and has uniform size and shape.
Golden Nugget — A fast-growing tree with dark green, rounded leaves. The jackfruit is small and rounded, weighing about 3.2 kg, turning golden-yellow upon ripening.
Golden Pillow (Mong Tong) — Introduced from Thailand in the 1980s, the fruit weighs 3.6 to 5.5 kg with 35–40% edible flesh. Compact trees are maintained at a manageable size of around 3 m.
Koozha Chakka — Native to South India, this variety features small, fibrous, and sweet carpels with a soft and mushy texture. It is appreciated for its intense sweetness.
Koozha Pazham (Varikka) — A commercially important South Indian variety with crisp carpels of high quality. Known as Varikka, this type has significant export value due to its texture and flavor.
