Green Gram Varieties We Export

The green gram import from India includes several premium varieties such as CO 1, ADT 1, and JGG 1. Mung bean exporters in India focus on delivering high-quality products that meet global health and safety standards.

CO 1 —  Released in 1952, CO 1 is a pure-line selection from Coimbatore local. It matures in around 135 days and is suitable for rainfed conditions with a grain yield of about 750 kg per hectare.

ADT 1 —  ADT 1, released in 1966, is a pure-line selection from Aduthurai local. This variety matures in 80 days and is best suited for rice fallow with an average grain yield of 500 kg per hectare.

JGG 1 (Rajendran) —  Released in 1972, JGG 1 is a selection from Jayankondam local. Known for its drought tolerance, it matures in about 65 days and yields around 625 kg per hectare.

KM 1 —  KM 1 was released in 1978 and was produced from a cross between S.8 and PS 16. It takes 65 to 70 days to mature and provides a yield of approximately 708 kg per hectare.

KM 2 —  Also released in 1978, KM 2 yields about 767 kg per hectare. It is tolerant to yellow mosaic virus (YMV) and shows resistance to pod borers.

Paiyur 1 —  Paiyur 1 was released in 1988 and is a pure-line selection from DPT 703. It matures in 85 to 90 days, yields around 700 kg per hectare, and is suited for the rainfed regions of Tamil Nadu with a low incidence of YMV.

Vamban 1 —  Vamban 1 is a hybrid derivative of S.8 and PIMS 3, released in 1989. This variety matures in 65 to 70 days and has a yield of 800 kg per hectare. It is also tolerant to yellow mosaic virus.

VBN (Gg) 2 —  VBN (Gg) 2 is a cross between VGG 4 and MH 309 and was released in 2001. It matures in 65 to 70 days, yields about 750 kg per hectare, and features shiny grains, lobed leaves, and resistance to YMV.
